I understand and respect Albert’s bleak vision of the future of Anglicanism, but I cannot agree with it. I am much more hopeful about the future of orthodox Anglicanism in North America now than I have been in many years — thanks largely to both the formation of ACNA and resolute actions by orthodox Anglicans still in TEC — particularly the Diocese of South Carolina. I sense a spirit of generosity and collaboration among orthodox Anglicans, and not the promised schisms that were so widely predicted. We remain in a period of transition, and will continue to for many years to come. Some of us find ourselves in ACNA, others in TEC and even some in the Continuum, like Albert, but I am far more hopeful than he is that we will ultimately come together. I hope that Bishop Moyer and other leaders in the Continuum will continue to work for the unity of faithful Anglicans.
