I am afraid we have passed from incoherent to irrelevant.

To be fair – at least as I understand, as he has described it – I don’t think Bishop Robinson left his wife for a man. His marriage came to an end and then he formed a relationship with his current (male) partner.

Incoherence – Stephen Sykes said as much 30 years ago.

The date of this item by Atherstone seems to be September, 2004.

  4. Dan Crawford says:

The “incoherence” has been around a lot longer than September 2004 – it began to blossom with late bishop of California, Mr. Pike.

  5. Fr. Jack says:

An excellent analysis of the development and present state of being of the Anglican communion. Please note the prophetic clarion call to coherent theology, liturgy, and ministry, with boundaries clearly defined and enforced by a recognized central authority. Should we embrace this task before us, the Anglican Communion may become a source of reformation and renewal not only in the life of our respective parishes and dioceses, but also in the lives of multitudes who are desperately seeking the certainty and hope of the Gospel in an ever increasing uncertain and pluralistic world.
