A Venture Integrating Skype Into the Family Room

There will soon be something new to watch on the living room TV: your relatives and friends in different parts of the world.

On Tuesday, Panasonic and LG Electronics, two of the top television makers, are to announce that they are integrating the free online calling service Skype into their Internet-connected high-definition televisions.

People who buy these TVs, along with an extra Web camera and microphone accessory designed for the living room, can conduct free, live video chats and phone calls from the couch.

I just love Skype–this looks cool. Check it out.

We visit with my Wycliffe Bible Translating Son, Daughter-in-law & Grandson on our lap tops when they venture into the Capital, Port Vila, of Vanuatu (due W of Figi), when they go from their remote village into town to recreate and restock! Wonderful!

Alexander, almost 2 yr old now, is learning 4 languages at present – English, Pigin English, the local trade language and his own village’s language (they will add French when they start home schooling.) He already recognizes his Grandparents with his name for us in his “trade language” when he sees us on the screen! And for a very low price they use Skype for unlimited telephone calls to the States as well! Our God is Awesome!!!
