Robert Brooks and Todd Granger Debate the ACC and Anglican Communion Membership

Canon Brooks piece is here and Todd Granger’s response is there. Sadly Canon Brooks took no notice of, nor bothered to interact with, the important arguments of Martyn Davie.

  1. Bill Matz says:

Todd Granger does a thorough job in completing refuting Canon Brooks’ argument about procedures for membership determination.

But Brooks own reasoning makes it difficult to take him seriously. He says, “…it is past time to return to the rule of law…”, and we need to “stop acqueiscing to bullies”. Is he so out of touch with relity that he does not see that he has perfectly described what has been happening in TEC progressively over the last 40 years? Routine violations of canons (e.g. “open communion”) and ordination vows are ignored because done out of “love”. They are only enforced against those not perceived as acting out of “love”. Methink the man doth protest too much!

It will be interesting what Mr Brooks says when (if) the Primates get the bit in their teeth and vote TEC out of the Communion. Brooks etc will say they don’t have the authority but the Primates will just turn their backs.

+++Rowan, take note: They can call their own meetings too!
