Life-giving God, who alone hast power over life and death, over health and sickness: Give power, wisdom, and gentleness to those who follow the example of thy servant Florence Nightingale, that they, bearing with them thy Presence, may not only heal but bless, and shine as lanterns of hope in the darkest hours of pain and fear; through Jesus Christ, the healer of body and soul, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
What a wonderful way to start the day. God bless all nurses! They work really hard for a fraction of the pay skimmed off the top of the economy by Wall Street. Where did this prayer come from ? Is there a supplemental book of prayers for feast days?
In the Faith,
NW Bob
Thanks, it just so happens we needed this prayer today.
Oh, very nice! I’m going to send thank-you text messages to my home health nurses and explain it’s “their” feast day!
Just an aside — I was delighted to see Florence Nightingale’s marker in the crypt at St. Paul’s. The crypts in UK churches are such fascinating places, so full of history.
