Very nice indeed. He had good control of tempi and dynamics. for a high school, good attack, good breath control, good discipline. One can hear the benefits of having black voices in a chorale. (I have too much chorale work NOT to know that black voices are an enormous gain in depth and expression.) Larry

I used to live near Central Islip and was also blessed to be part of an award-winning choir. But, CI deserves MUCH credit–they do exactly what we did, produce the same quality, and with even less resources than we had(and we didn’t have much).

God bless them–it’s also a treat to get on YouTube and listen to their performance of Fleming’s “Give Me Jesus”. 🙂

Having sung the SSAA version of this piece, I love it. It is an incredible piece to sing as part of a small women’s group. We sang it on Easter Morning from the balcony of the church.
