  1. Ed the Roman says:

In a well ordered society, Tim Conway would have streets named after him.

  2. Scott K says:

Ed, you mean like Timcon Way?

  3. libraryjim says:

Tim Conway and Harvey Korman are the most under-rated comedic duo in the history of tv. They should long ago have been rated among the heights of Martin/Lewis; Abbot/Costello; etc.

  4. NWOhio Anglican says:

Actually I disagree. Conway is brilliant; but Korman can’t keep a straight face. That’s a deadly failing in a straight man.

  5. libraryjim says:

hmmm, good point. Although I’ve only seen them together on Carol Burnett (filmed live with limited rehearsals). Who knows how Korman would be in a filmed situation?

Tim Conway, however, is a master at comedic improv.

  6. Ad Orientem says:

I haven’t laughed that hard in a LONG time. I can barely see the keyboard through the tears.

  7. drjoan says:

Wasn’t that Dick Van Dyke, not Harvey Korman? And did you notice: no profanity!!!
(And I laughed so hard I cried!)

  8. libraryjim says:

I remember watching it and I could swear it was either Harvey Korman or Lyle Wagner in the skit. If it was Dick Van Dyke, it goes to show Tim’s talent in that he had him on the floor at the end.

But I was refering to the ongoing teaming of Tim and Harvey throughout the show.

  9. libraryjim says:

It WAS Dick Van Dyke, at least in that version. Strange, the one they show on the retrospective shows has Harvey Korman or Lyle Wagner (I have to re-watch it. And I may TONIGHT — after Reaper).

From what I hear, it was a special episode that was never aired. Most sites list it as ‘an outtake’. I can’t believe he did it twice — and broke everyone up both times!

  10. NWOhio Anglican says:

My comment was directed to Korman and Conway generally; there are a lot of their sketches floating around Youtube.

But in this particular one, it was “Mama’s” comment at the end that had everybody on the floor, including Tim Conway. And she was the only one who was able to keep a straight face through (almost) the entire thing. So either Vicki Lawrence had no sense of humor at all… or I take my hat off to her as the most awesomely professional straight woman around.

  11. libraryjim says:

Definately her “Are you sure that A**H** is finished?” got the laugh. Although it was probably just the proverbial straw!

    Genius. just genius.

Tell me again — why don’t we have comedy shows like this on tv anymore?
