(RNS) Minister to Face Methodist Church Trial for Celebrating a same-sex marriage

United Methodists will begin a trial Tuesday (June 21) against a Wisconsin minister who’s accused of breaking church rules by celebrating a same-sex marriage and being in a lesbian relationship.

The Rev. Amy DeLong, 44, of Osceola, Wis., could be defrocked if the 13-member jury composed of local clergy finds her guilty of either charge.

The Methodist Church – at least officially – understands that same-sex “marriage” is not marriage at all. Sadly, as TEC furthers itself down the road into lunacy, it will have to revise its Catechism where it speaks to what marriage is (a life-long union between one man and one woman). Anti-Realism is alive and well in the TEC. Hopefully, the Methodists will keep their heads and discipline heresy.

Back in the late 70’s whilst in theological studies in England , a visionary cleric/sociologist/forward thinker named David Wasdell came and administered a series of questionaires to the assembled students of United Reform, Methodist, and two varieties of Church of England (high and low). When the results were tabulated there was an incredible amount of similarity between all of the ordinands. Outliers, of course, but generally peas in a pod. I suspect the same selection process exists today and thus I do not expect discipline.
