Chief Justice speaks on Anglican row in Zimbabwe

Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku has blasted the Bishop Chad Gandiya-led faction of the Anglican Church for seeking political intervention in the long-drawn property ownership wrangle still pending before the courts.

This, the Chief Justice said, was tantamount to interference with the independence of the judiciary.

    Folks all you have to know is that this is a state-owned newspaper. It is completely in the hands of the Mugabe government. Even so, not the reference to the Chad Gandiya-led faction. This is a reference to the real Anglican Church of Zimbabwe, and is clearly how the government wish it to be seen – just as one of two antagonistic factions – whereas in fact the rebel bishop is the real faction, and has virtually no following. Goebbels would have been proud of this exercise of propaganda masquerading as journalism
