    Absolutely beautiful.

This piece was relatively new when I was the age of these singers, and I sang it enough to get burned out. Amazing how a rest of decades restores an appreciation of how exquisite it really is. Thank you for posting it.

I never cease to be amazed at the power of this piece. I remember singing it in high school chorale and still remember the alto line… so much a part of me!!! The whole piece praises God as I could never do. When it ascends from piano to forte it reminds me of the ups and downs of life. Randall Thompson was a genius. The minor key is indicative of the story of Job: ever faithful through the trials of life. Thank you, Kendall, for posting this. This is a superb rendition of a masterpiece. It made my Thanksgiving!

Yes, hearing again this little gem by Thompson brought me to tears. It’s amazing what he did with one little word. Thanks be to God.
