Good for her! North Country people can use every break they can get.
Those young guys who were going to follow her looked skunked!

Kendall–I was born in Florida, grew up in East Texas and live in South Carolina. What’s a hockey stick?

#2, that reminds me of a time I drove south to meet a friend who had grown up in Alabama and lived in Texas. She was excited I’d brought a snow brush in my car because she had heard of them but had never seen one.

“After a lap around the arena, I gathered the contestants at the far blue line, I yelled out ladies first , Mrs. Hewlett said “Oh god I don’t wanna be first I’m going to look foolish” She put a helmet on grabbed the stick I walked up next to her & said “Let It Go & Believe”

Well the whole arena must have believed & the Christmas angels were upon her. She pulled back the puck in awkward stance Mrs Hewlett is only about 5’3 (the stick was way too big)…”

Yes, it was way too big; but, that’s it, just let it go and believe. 🙂

My spouse is still mad at me after 20+ years–my family got him hooked on New York Rangers hockey, and the former baseball fan can no longer watch baseball–he finds it too slow and boring. Viva hockey!! 🙂

Yeah! I’m a native of upstate New York (Utica), and I do miss hockey! And curling (try to figure that one out!).

Cenny, I like curling, too, and love to watch it at the Olympics. 🙂 My best friend’s family is from Utica. I liked it a lot when I visited there, and have always loved NY state.

Utica, the Gateway to the Adirondacks, is a great winter sports city, and the place is a winter wonderland when the snow really flies. I grew up in Barneveld, which is 12 miles north of there, and spent my winters playing hockey, curling, and taking my girlfriends to Jones’s Barn for barn dances (remember them?).
