    I might have done things a bit differently but on balance the sanctions seem proportionate. You don’t want to break the team. But you do need to send a very strong message that this sort of thing is a serious no no. And targeting individuals is more likely to have a deterrent effect.

    The contrast with the treatment of the New England Patriots in their spy scandal of a few years ago is stark. If I am generally supportive of the NFL here I think the Patriots pretty much got off with a slap on the wrist.
