Songs of Praise is to remain Christian despite calls for it to be turned it into a multifaith programme, the BBC’s first Muslim head of religion has pledged.
Aaqil Ahmed said that it was vital that religious programming promoted “diversity” but insisted that Songs of Praise would always remain Christian.
Mr Ahmed’s appointment three years ago attracted controversy in some quarters and even complaints to the corporation.
Wow. Just wow. A Muslim showing more faithfulness and respect to Christianity than large swatches of the CoE and TEO. May God open his eyes fully to the truth of Jesus the Christ.
When the NHS spoke of removing Bibles from hospitals (in Scotland) it was the Muslim community which objected. If Christians now, them later…also, they have respect for Christ as a prophet, etc. I also recall the BBC doing a series of spoofs on the Queen, etc. When it was suggested Christ was next, the Muslims complained, for the same reason. The BBC backed away.
Islam and some ethnic groups in this country recognize well the idolatrous and blasphemous spirit that hovers within the modern west.
