Surely one of the most beautiful pieces of sacred music in our time. Lauridsen hears and creates in a way that moves the heart and mind. Arvo Part is another extraordinary contemporary composer of sacred music. His Part – Magnificat could easily stand beside the above work of Lauridsen. Both have long phrasing incorporating resonance as an element which draws one in and leaves room for the soul to open and sigh.
