[blockquote] “Our system rewards agenda-driven action by small groups of people. Various and sundry individuals and groups brought forth dozens or even hundreds of resolutions. The result is hours of committee work, followed in many cases by floor debate involving 1,000 people. Because it’s too easy to get resolutions submitted, the Society for the Appreciation of Sabon could, if it desired, get us to talk about a resolution commending the designers of our prayer book for their use of a particular typeface.” [/blockquote]

    Chuckles…

People thought this was bad, but I know there was talk (possibly a resolution that died somewhere) about having a joint General Convention which was unicameral and just combine the House of Bishops and Deputies into one huge voting bloc. I was curious about that idea because I was not sure if that would solve the glut of worthless resolutions because nothing would get passed, or it would accelerate it because we’d have one massive, colossal groupthink.

Funny, in one breath they’ll celebrate diversity, and in the next they’ll celebrate unanimity.
That video is woth a watch, especially for the “gentleman” at 1:48 and for the person that “dreams of a church that puts its money where its mouth is.” Perhaps he thinks the church instead puts its mouth where the money is (which in the case of the TEC is somewhere above the knees and below the belt).
