[blockquote]I believe that for the authors of that book and those whom they represent the vision of, not only Anglican, but Christian structure and fellowship that is emerging has a great deal more to do with the search for enabling authority than for absolute clarity about corrective authority. [/blockquote]
I have been considering the resolutions, and in particular the Bible resolution engineered through by the ABC and ACO managers through this ACC meeting.

I was just thinking how unhelpful it is when Christians are fighting for survival against domestic challenges in Northern Nigeria, for the ACC managers in Auckland to be pushing through the idea that Biblical truth is relative and contextual.

Williams goes, and sadly Kearon stays, as they have lived – feeble-minded, equivocal, cowardly, Quislingesque, manipulative and an impediment to the attempts of so many Anglicans in challenging situations to spread the Gospel.

And it has to be said with their TEC funded and particularly Trinity Wall Street funded Indaba and other pet projects, hopelessly corrupt and compromised. The question remains not only of what of his office of Archbishop of Canterbury, Williams will leave behind, but whether indeed given his abuse of it, whether there should be any role for his successor.

It will take a straightforward Godly and Orthodox successor prepared to put aside what Williams has worked for so destructively to rebuild trust, but all the signs are that the current line up of successors being considered will just continue the line Williams has pioneered, and the Americans have funded.

The emanations from this ACC have been noteworthy for their lack of spiritual content.

  6. Robert Lundy says:

    Amen PageantMaster.

What is sad is that there does not seem to be any clear understanding of what it takes to have conversations that enable better understanding. When ideologues fail to engage in any conversation regarding their position by simply labeling those who disagree with them as bigots, there is no real conversation. At that point the only thing enabled by further discussions is the destruction of the Anglican Communion by the same political agenda that is destroying the Episcopal Church. If it is not a political agenda, why has the “discussion” in the Episcopal Church degenerated into ignoring Scripture, tradition, and reason in the form of science in favor of extra-biblical experience? The AC is not immune to destructively bad boundaries, which Jesus spoke against in Matthew 18. And if the ABC wants to focus on mission, that mission needs to be the Great Commission of Matthew 28, not ordaining homosexuals and people suffering with gender identity disorder to the top of the church.

I am all for discussions, but let’s hear any evidence at all that these people have to claim that homosexuality is like being black or a woman. The best evidence is that homosexuality is more like obesity in that there are many causes and behavior plays an important role. The only difference is that as much as we do know there is a biological component to obesity, there is no evidence of biology in homosexuality at this point, and there is presently a lot of evidence against biology as a significant contributer. Even if there turned out to be a biological cause in a few homosexuals, like the 1 in 1,200 obese kids who have a gene that makes them always hungry, why would anyone lie to children about the nature of homosexuality or obesity? We don’t bless obesity and call it an identity. That would be wicked. Ditto homosexuality.

What, exactly, does the ABC DO? What difference does he make in the world?

  9. Stephen Noll says:

It is worth noting that the ABC makes no mention of FCA or of the South Carolina diocese as having a place in the Communion. He speaks only of Provincial structures and canons, and the idea of the diocese as the prime ecclesial unit has disappeared from his thinking as quickly as it appeared. Which means that he is betraying the dissenting/confessing churches at ACC-15 just as much as he did at ACC-14.

A final note. I find it curious that he can speak so positively of the Instruments being “in the business of enabling” without any awareness of the manipulative connotation of being an “enabler,” which indeed is exactly what the Lambeth bureaucracy has been and continues to be.

Seems to be a bit like a pastor saying – the marriage has broken down and the husband is still having his affair – but look how well the nieces and nephews are doing at school.
