I wonder when the ACC worked out that having a regional dimension would “enhance the instruments of communion” – especially given that the ACC is one of them!

But the regional meetings of the Global South and others differ fundamentally from the ACC:
    (a) they have a strong doctrinal foundation;
    (b) they expect to actually debate and decide things. i.e. they aren’t caught up in the waste of time that is “indaba”.
[blockquote] “An effective Primates’ Meeting would be an enabling thing for the Provinces.” he said. “Especially if they share in some meaningful way with the Province they are representing.” [/blockquote]
And even more if they actually turn up.

As long as TEC and ACoC are part of the primates meeting, the leaders of the majority of the world’s Anglicans won’t be there, making the meeting a waste of time.

[blockquote] “The Rt Revd Susan Moxley from Canada presented the highlights of the group discussions on the Lambeth Conference. The value of the Lambeth Conference was the way it built collegiality and trusting relationships among bishops meeting face to face.” [/blockquote]
Err, no, the value of the Lambeth Conference is apparent when the bishops actually debate important issues. The most telling example of that was in 1998 when Resolution I.10 on human sexuality was passed overwhelmingly, despite not being on the agenda, and despite the effort of the Lambeth bureaucracy to keep it off the agenda.

The efforts of Rowan Williams and other Lambeth bureaucrats to prevent any such meaningful debate and resolution re-occurring has deprived the Lambeth Conference of relevance. All the fluff of ACC-15 can’t change that fact.

[blockquote]One way to enhance the Instruments of Communion might be greater regional gatherings, involvement and understanding according to the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC).[/blockquote]
Divide and conquer – never let the left hand know what the right hand says, except through the Creep’s ‘facilitors’ and the Creep’s ‘reflections’.
[blockquote]Brazilian member Professor Joanildo Burity said the group had celebrated the “truly consultative nature of ACC-15[/blockquote]
Member of TEC stooge-province celebrates absence of advance notice of resolutions, ability to debate in open plenary, control of information getting back to meeting by the Creep’s facilitators, and heavy handed control freakery everywhere.
[blockquote]West African representative The Very Revd Dr Herman Browne spoke as the convener of the group considering the role of the Primates’ Meeting. He summarised the discussions by saying there had been strong support for this Instrument “as a gathering or mutual affirmation and for the benefit of Primate themselves” in their roles as Provincial leaders.

“An effective Primates’ Meeting would be an enabling thing for the Provinces.” he said. “Especially if they share in some meaningful way with the Province they are representing.”

This group’s key proposal for enhancing this meeting, was a study of the Office of a Primate. “Not in order that they are made to look the same, rather so we can appreciate the variety of models [of Primacy] in our community.” This, he said, would help manage expectations of what Primates could and couldn’t do.[/blockquote]
Yes, well, the Primates did have a role, until the Creep stage-managed making them irrelevant save as an advice body to the Creep at Dublin.

As for examining the role of Primates why not start with the Creep himself?
[blockquote]The Rt Revd Susan Moxley from Canada presented the highlights of the group discussions on the Lambeth Conference[/blockquote]
How typical of the Creep to make a member of ACoC a facilitoror to ‘present highlights’ of group discussions.
[blockquote]Canon Dr Alyson Barnett-Cowan … said that Anglican Communion Office staff would post the report on the Instruments of Communion[/blockquote]
Another ACoC stooge having control of the system thanks to the way the Creep and his advisors have set up ACC-15
[blockquote]The group conversations about the progress of the Anglican Communion Covenant, were summarised by Helen Biggin, member for the Church in Wales [/blockquote]
Nooo – not the loony liberal collapsing 40,000 member [if that] Church in Wales. The Creep has turned the whole thing into a sick joke.

Williams has turned even this meeting into a wreck for any successor. But then we all know that the Creep is a $#€%

  4. Pageantmaster Ù† says:

Is this the final piece of damage of Williams’ tenure – to emasculate another Instrument and remove all semblance of democratic decision-making from it.

    He is a wretch.

Other than further window dressing and the pure joy some apparently have of hiding agendas, one wonders whether anyone will bother with a 16th meeting.
