The leaders of the Global South coalition of Anglican provinces have written to Bishop Mark Lawrence of the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina stating they do not recognize the validity of Presiding Bishop Katharine Jeffert Schori’s purported deposition of him from episcopal office and the ordained ministry.
Excellent!
Merry Christmas, South Carolina!
I completely agree! And one would hope that certified copies of this letter have been delivered to ++Rowan Williams, Archbishop-elect Welby, and Mrs Katharine Jefferts Schori…..not that it would do any good in her case.
Good.
Good point Cennydd, but I would extend that to every bishop in TEC – let them consider how they are becoming a small ghetto of irrelevance in the wider Communion.
In theory, Michael A, good, but that gets to be pretty expensive, in time and costs, doesn’t it? Fun, but is it really practical?
I’d guess most of them will see, or have seen, the story…it would surprise me very much if every single one of them is not completely aware of everything that affects the goings-on in SC.
Very true, Luke, but the question, as I see it, is one of how many in the House of Bishops will agree with their PB, or if any of them will step aside and tell her to stop what she’s doing or face the consequences for her actions. I suspect the number of the latter will be very low.
