Greetings from London, UK. At least the freezing fog has lifted. Even so, alas some travellers are still stranded at Heathrow airport and will not make it home in time for Christmas.

We have had our 6 pm children’s Mass, which was so packed that we had to open the gallery. Our Midnight Mass will start at 11.30 pm following our Arabic language congregation’s Mass at 8 pm. I can hear the choir for the 11.30 rehearsing Palestrina Missa Papae Marcelli so we plan to greet the Christ child with some heavenly music. However, I must confess to being worn out. A viral infection three weeks ago has left me drained. But writing my sermon (this afternoon) I felt the Lord give me a word. May he and the prayers of the whole Church strengthen us all and bless us with peace this Christmastide.

May God bless us all. Our “Christmas” service was held yesterday – and we had an excellent homily. Tonight we go to the Presbyterian Church for lessons and carols. (This church and the Catholic church are the only ones here having services tonight.)

That’ll preach. Christmas blessings to you and yours.

To all on T1:9:

The light of the Christmas star to you
The warmth of home and hearth to you
The cheer and good will of friends to you
The hope of a childlike heart to you
The joy of a thousand angels to you
The love of the Son and God’s peace to you.

Well, here in Wisconsin, we’ve not been able to clear all the ice and snow since the first storm and unusual cold about the 1st of December. There are far fewer Christmas lights this year. I can not remember any of the previous 50 years of December being this bitter and stormy. But Jesus still stands between our sin and the wrath of God – we can know peace, real peace. May God teach us how to be adequately thankful for such a gift that is so far beyond our comprehension and yet so simple and loving! May our grattitude be shown to God, not just in great hymns of praise and thanksgiving, but in obedience to Jesus.

Merry Christmas to all!

I found an insightful sermon on the incarnation which includes some insights on how different Christianity is from Islam and I commend it to you all, it is not very long: Allah v God is with us

The verse that comes back to me over and over again during Advent:

“True Man yet very God;
From sin and death now save us
And share our ev’ry load.”

12. Oldman says:

To: Kendall, the wonderful Elves, and all you regular posters, I send these two at this Christmas Time.

From an early English Church litany.

From Ghoulies and Goasties and Long Leggity Beasties,
and things that go bump in the night.
God Lord Deliver Us.

And my favorite Irish Blessing.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields,
and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Merry Christmas and
God Bless all of you!

13. MJD_NV says:

15. Philip Snyder says:

“…and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us”

May we all come to know the miracle and mystery of the Incarnation and I pray that we make God’s love incarnate in our own lives and spread that love to others.
