Tens of thousands of people have gathered in Papua New Guinea to mark the arrival of a rare 404-year-old King James Bible donated by an American missionary.
A delegation of PNG politicians and religious leaders escorted the first edition King James Bible from the US state of Indiana to its new home in PNG’s parliament.
When the large calf-skin bound volume arrived at Jackson airport in Port Moresby, the crowd of approximately 20,000 people cheered and a preacher leading the event yelled “Hallelujah, let the drums roar”.
