The Commonwealth War Graves Commission do a wonderful job looking after these cemetaries. Of course there were not only Brits at the Somme, but also Indians, Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders and probably others as well as the French. There was a moving service from Theipval today and some of the shock of the almost unimaginable loss of life and the sadness comes across in this footage as well.
