  1. Chris Molter says:

Dr Rice was always my first choice for VP. I was hoping for a Powell-Rice ticket for the GOP, just to see what happens to identity politics THEN! 😉

  2. Marion R. says:

Seems promising from a sheer focus-group based approach, but I don’t know the first thing about her worldview or political positions.

  3. Dr. William Tighe says:

She is pro-choice, so if she were the VP candidate I would certainly not vote for the GOP nominee, whoever it might be.

  4. Andrew717 says:

I’ve been a Condi fan since the mid 90’s, but she’s too closely identified with the current administration.

    Andrew,
for some of us, that is not a problem.
    William,
for most of us, that IS a problem.

Another case of over-reliance on old media. A little balance on this report my be found here: http://hotair.com/archives/2008/04/07/if-its-monday-it-must-be-time-for-another-condi-rumor/

  7. Andrew717 says:

It’s not a problem for me, Jim, but it’d be a liability for McCain in the General Election. Maybe keep her at State, though, if he wins in November.
William, I didn’t know that. I admit to being more or less ignorant of her views regarding domestic politics.

  8. Jerod says:

#3: I believe she is only pro-choice insofar as she was not in favor of an outright overturn of Roe, self-termed “mildly pro-choice.” Based on what I know of her politics, I would have no qualms with any judicial appointments she might make as eventual President.

Though I echo the concerns of other posters in terms of the electability of the ticket. She has strong ties with a very unpopular administration and war. (Ironically, she might have been a shoe in had she not taken the Sec. of State job in ’04 and gone private for a few years).

  9. Mike L says:

Right now my vote will depend entirely on who McCain picks for his VP. If Miss Rice is the VP candidate, I can guarantee McCain will not receive my vote.

  10. magnolia says:

imho she has been about as effective as her predecessor albright in that job; neither one has accomplished anything significant. other than that, she has nary voiced her own opinion except save repeating the old dismal policies and views of this presidency.
