  1. St. Cuervo says:

ABC is reporting that she is in Alaska not in Dayton.

  2. Carolina Anglican says:

She would be a good pick this time or in the future. Her only downside is her lack of experience, but in this election she happens to have much more experience governing and many more accomplishments in governing than Barack Obama, so she would be an excellent choice.

  3. St. Cuervo says:

I think she’d be an outstanding pick and I hope ABC is wrong.

  4. Kendall Harmon says:

Yes, #1 i already posted that on the thread below.
the ny times the caucus blog has this

So who does that leave? The Times’s Elisabeth Bumiller sends the following:

Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska? As reports circulated on television and cable networks on Friday morning that Senator John McCain might have selected Ms. Palin as his running mate, McCain advisers expressed bewilderment. One adviser said that while Mr. McCain thinks highly of Ms. Palin, who is opposed to abortion rights and would be welcomed by Christian conservatives, her less than two years in office would undercut one of the McCain campaign’s central criticisms of Senator Barack Obama — that he is too inexperienced to be commander-in-chief.

“While it’s a dramatic and interesting choice, it would make the argument he’s making difficult to make,” said one McCain adviser.

Bummer. They make a good point.

The NY Times is engaged in wishful thinking, they are scared to death of a pro life woman with a record of reform. Granted, she’s young but this is the VP we’re talking about, not the President. The Dems have it exactly backwards with the VP having all the experience, Obama practically none.

  7. Chris Hathaway says:

A VP pick is about balance, not the ability to be President immediately. Palin would be a little like Quayle, yet without the vulnerability that Quayle had, because going after a woman in these politics is much harder, especially after Obama “robbed” a woman of both the Presidential nomination and the VP slot. Palin is young, pro-life and pro-reform. She shores up the conservative base, draws off the more moderate disaffected women from Hillary’s side and offers the only true outsider position. They don’t need to hammer home Obama’s inexperience. All they have to do is push him on his details and his political inexperience will become manifest to all who have eyes to see it. That includes all those who don’t drink the Koolaid with a straw, unlike MSNBC.

  8. Creedal Episcopalian says:

#5 At 2 years as governor, she has 2 years more executive experience than B.O. And she won’t be in the hot seat.

  9. Christopher Johnson says:

The “no experience” line won’t work. The fact is that she’s got more administrative experience than anyone in this race, including McCain and certainly more than Obama.

  10. phil swain says:

The “no experience” attack from Dems will be a tarbaby. What a great personal story she has to share.

  11. Chris Hathaway says:

I didn’t know much at all about her before this morning. But I’ve learned a lot already. She is HOT. Hot, hot, hot! And I don’t mean just that she’s good looking, which doesn’t hurt 😉 , but she is everything a Republican OUGHT to be. She is principled, fights against her party when it isn’t true to its values. She fought the Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska, spoke against Ted Stevens’ corruption before his indigtment. She’s a maverick FROM THE RIGHT. She is a strong NRA member, a proponent of drilling in ANWAR. And she is really, really prolife. A mother of five whose latest child has Downs Syndrome, and she calls this child a “gift from God”. She’s a Proverbs 31 woman on the ticket.

I mean, philosophically and politically….I need a cold shower. 🙂
