Practicing abstinence, bride and groom have never kissed

When the officiant tells Claudaniel Fabien he can kiss his bride at the altar Saturday, no one will fault the couple for a little “should I tilt my head this way, or that way?” awkwardness.

It will be the couple’s very first kiss.

And that night could be their very first … uh, back to that kiss.

“I don’t know how long it’ll last, but it’ll be great,” says a confident Melody LaLuz, 28, who is marrying 30-year-old Fabien in Chicago after a yearlong courtship and two-year friendship.

Well, it might not be. Don’t expect me to be sympathetic if it isn’t.

The discussion on abstinence issues is far too shallow. There isn’t enough acknowledgement of the serious problems that liberal and conservative positions have. The extreme liberals don’t see any problem with consenting adults doing what they want, as long as nobody gets ‘hurt.’ Well, usually somebody does get hurt – the woman. Liberals fail to acknowledge that most of the time the man is just taking advantage of the woman, only to dump her when she isn’t attractive any more, or when she wants a commitment. Conservatives don’t seem to want to discuss a fact that I never even heard of until I was 35: that some people get married and despise being intimate. Lots of these people eventually get divorced, conservatives most certainly included.

There needs to be more discussion dealing with these problems.

I cold be wrong, but I think when she says she doesn’t know how long it will last, she means the first kiss, not the marriage.

    #2 Katherine:
With all possible discretion, the article seems to be written in a way that is discussing neither the kiss nor the marriage when quoting the bride to be. I’ll leave the remaining candidate for experiences that may or may not last long the 1st time to your imagination.

In any event. How refreshing that this ‘walk the walk’ couple is now walking down an aisle. May their marriage be blessed.

    Peace,

Many years to them! And yes, may their wedding night be one of great joy and “bliss.”

#2. I think you’re probably right. That’s the way I read it, too.

I’m sure you’re right too. Tell you what, this honeymoon is going to be – what can I call it politely – a memorable one. Larry
