So now the “striving for justice” in the baptismal covenant is to be understood as justifying and supporting litigation against fellow Christians. Amazing the things you’ll learn about that baptismal covenant you never knew, if only you stick around long enough to learn them.
At first I thought this was serious and I was going to make a comment about how revisionists fail to understand that the Baptismal Covenant is far more than the question about respecting the dignity of every human being. In fact, theologically that is one of the least. Then I saw that the verdict was attached to the end and I realized that this has to be a joke.
Should be very inspiring as it’s read aloud. Especially the court ruling. I can’t imagine how anyone would not appreciate this as a fitting tribute to Jesus Christ in His worship.
Any priest who can read this aloud in his sanctuary without either blushing or cringing has lost his mind…or his heart…or both.
Bruno is a continuing disaster as a “Father-in-God” to L.A.
Elves, please do check the veracity of this document. Besides the attached legal opinion to such a letter, it neither has the bishop’s letterhead nor his signature.
There is the Gospel and there is the Law. Bp Bruno was offering the Law as a not so gentle reminder for folks to watch their Ps and Qs. Do you really think that if TEC sells the property that the money will go to “provide food, shelter, medicine and pastoral care to those in greatest need locally and globally.”? And just how is this tied to the mission of the church (Quoted by Bruno) as stated in the BCP to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ. What he failed to link was how the mission of the church is pursued. “The church pursues its mission as it prays and worships, proclaims the Gospel, and promotes justice, peace and love.” look for there to be a revision on this at GenCon 09. The real problem is that TEC is in the process of leaving the Episcopal Church.

[blockquote]”I ask each of us to keep working for reconciliation and renewal within this Diocese, and especially within the continuing Episcopal congregations of All Saints, Long Beach; St. James, Newport Beach; St. David’s, North Hollywood; and St. Luke’s, La Crescenta. As we move forward, I will announce the scheduling of Liturgies of Reconciliation and Renewal in each of these communities.[/blockquote]
The man really is delusional isn’t he? The level of denial is staggering.
I wonder how a man can function in that kind of dense, thick, black smoke and haze. It boggles my mind how he manages to get through a normal day living in that.
What are the continuing congregations supposed to “reconcile” with? With whom? Where? With each other? Were they unreconciled?
Did they have to read all of the footnotes as well? Pastoral letters should be short and too the point so that people can understand what is being said. That letter was pure blather.
I am glad to see that the good bishop continues in the apostles’ teaching. I would never have guessed.

There’s that “baptismal covenant” again! Whenever you read those words, revisionist blather isn’t long in coming.
“Therefore, as Episcopalians in this Diocese …” Whatever happened to “as Christians and members of the Body of Christ?”
T
The words “pastoral” and ” Bp. Bruno” are self cancelling.

It seems he missed the part about “Will you persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord?”
Is the CSC’s opinion final, yet?
No, he didn’t just missed it……he ignored it!

By the way. As we move forward into my marriage, I will announce the scheduling of the wedding very shortly.
There is no fellow or significant other, lucky or courageous or otherwise.
. . . Nevertheless, as we move forward into my marriage, I will announce the scheduling of the wedding very shortly.

I have sometimes wondered if “Sarah” is AKA Sarah H.
Is that who you thought was posting?
