Application for Recognition as a Diocese/Cluster/Network of the Anglican Church in North America

The process for applying to be recognized as a diocese, cluster or network of the Anglican Church in North America is now available.

Recognized dioceses, clusters and networks will be able to fully participate in the inaugural convention of the Anglican Church in North this June in Bedford, Texas.

In many cases, existing groups of churches, already organized and under the authority of a bishop, will apply for recognition. Those forming new groups will need to begin the process of organizing themselves, selecting leadership and building a common life.

There is nothing that I read here that prevents a foreign diocese, Europe, Asia whatever from transferring to North America. Apparently George Conger reported, in error, that Recife had voted to do so. Did Conger jump the gun and is there anything to prevent Recife or any other extra-continental diocese or “cluster” from joining ACNA?

Strange world we live in these days when a Church takes applications.

How would you propose entrance into the new province take place, Alice?

    EmilyH-
It’s just the new province being inclusive.

Actually, I don’t think it occurred to anyone that they would need to place restrictions, since the “North America” in the name made the intent pretty plain. Now, about the 10 TEC dioceses in Europe and South America and Asia….

EmilyH, there are plenty of “foriegn” dioceses in The Episcopal Church of the United States of America. I fail to see your point.

  6. Cennydd says:

Why not rename THe Episcopal Church “The Episcopal Communion?” That’s what they see themselves to be. After all, isn’t Dr Schori their “primate,” and “first among equals?”
