Independent–Fertility expert: 'I can clone a human being'

A controversial fertility doctor claimed yesterday to have cloned 14 human embryos and transferred 11 of them into the wombs of four women who had been prepared to give birth to cloned babies.

The cloning was recorded by an independent documentary film-maker who has testified to The Independent that the cloning had taken place and that the women were genuinely hoping to become pregnant with the first cloned embryos specifically created for the purposes of human reproduction.

Sounds like the road to sin is getting wider and wider. I wonder who will be taking care of the single woman who is currently “taking care” of 14 children?? (I have heard on the blog that Texas is forced to take care of them.)

And many think that the Catholic Church is too harsh in her condemnation of those desiring children who undergo in vitro. But this shows exactly why that decision (in vitro) begins this path to cloning – once there are “extra” eggs and embryos (created to offer multiple chances for a woman to bear a child), what do we do with them when they are no longer needed or useful? I know, let’s use them in experiments – either to destroy them to try to create cures for ourselves or to clone them to create copies of ourselves – either way, it’s all about us, us, us.
