Living Church: Bishop Bennison Seeks Dismissal of Presentment

Prior to the start of the Rt. Rev. Charles E. Bennison’s appeal before the Court of Review of the Trial of a Bishop, new evidence has come to light. The evidence, revealed on April 27, purportedly reveals that the teenage victim conspired with Bishop Bennison’s brother, John, in order to conceal their sexual relationship from Bishop Bennison, who was serving as rector at the California parish where his brother was the youth minister in the early 1970s.

No doubt they were using a Romulan cloaking device when the (now deposed) bishop-then-rector walked in on them.

  2. tjmcmahon says:

DW- I believe that he is not yet deposed- as the article notes, deposition was the recommendation of the court. He is inhibited (for some reason Living Church used the word “suspended.” But in order for Bennison to be deposed, there must be a vote of the HoB, and I am not aware of any vote having been taken. Kendall or the elves, please correct me if I’m wrong.

Charles is a nice man who is taking a quid pro quo fall. They did it to Benisson, so they can do it to anyone else. I hope he gets off with this new evidence.

Yes, because the notes from a 14-year-old girl being abused by an adult male are sooo accurate /sarc

This is way out of control with false memory syndrome anyhow…statute of limitation shoud be tightened up here

  6. dwstroudmd+ says:

Well, is there any core doctrine being offended here? It’s only sex, right? So, DD, are you suggesting that the false memory is the reason Bennison cannot be judged -his flase memory- or the cloaking device? I’m a trifle confused by your comment, or rather, about whose memory is false, I should say.

As to the status of deposition, I repeat, is there any core doctrine being offended here? Can the HOB “convict” where there is no core doctrine?
