It is a shame that the PB and TEC made a public apology for TEC’s role in slavery of Africans in America, only to turn around and support the move by the JSC to afford the African Archbishop such little respect. One of my long standing critiques of the current direction of TEC is that the leadership has betrayed their liberal values of including persons of color (Africans after all are generally persons of color) in order to include those with a new sexual ethic. It is patronizing and belittling of both groups, turning them into pawns to be used in a game of power and intrigue. The cross instead invites us all to come to the Lord in humility and God-given dignity.
Henry Orombi will find this a dreadful insult to him and his Church, as well as a hypocritical injustice.
