No way I’d buy a house right now unless I could pay cash and since I can’t, I’ll continue renting my apartment that I’ve lived in for 15 years.

Looking at these indicators along with automobiles, credit card defaults and the stock market swings leads me to think October will be a very interesting month.

This all underscores my joy at being able to buy from an individual, not a lender, and to build as we have funds in hand, and material on hand (20 acres of ‘pole-sized’ pine) to cut and stack in mortar for our business, church and house. Our only large outlay will be for concrete slab work and PV panels and wind turbine.

It is important to note that this crisis is having very little effect on the pricing of 30-year fixed loans, even with the 10-year interest-only option. It is also important to note that mortgage banks do not lend their own money, making them dependent upon the investors and warehouse line of credit banks that actually provide the money.

True dat! Even in these truly trepidatious markets, we ask, we consider prayerfully, but we do not assume!
