In Rhode Island, Historic Episcopal church to close its doors

The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, located AT 542 Potters Avenue, began as a mission parish in 1868. The mission church had once claimed 700 parishioners but has seen its membership decline in recent decades.

    It won’t be the last.

    My wife and I were married in a little parish in Rhode Island, well outside of Providence. It was always small, but, at the time, could support a full time rector. That has not been the case for many years. The most recent rector departed, and they are getting little to know support from the diocese in locating a new one. They nearly closed at the beginning of the year, and I suspect that they really are only in a holding pattern
