When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways.
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.
So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
–1 Corinthians 13: 11-13
This is a beatiful response to the Richard Dawkin’s article a few entries above, and to all those who think they figured it all out!
“When I was a child, I spake as a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a parent, I put away childish things.” 🙂
When I decided I would give the eulogy at my mother’s funeral, I did not know what to say … only that I wanted everyone at the service to know her as I had. So the morning before the service, I decided to open my Bible and put my finger down and see what it landed on. And that passage was it. And ironically, the priest, without knowing what I intended, read the same passage for his short homily. It has become my favorite passage, next to Phillipians 4:13.
