I predict it will go from being A Righteous War We Should Have Been Fighting All Along (Including Invading Pakistan) to “Afghanization.” Having the Afghans to take more responsibility for fighting. I grew up in the late 60’s and 1970s – this President is repeating all the mistakes of the LBJ/Nixon/Carter administrations only faster.

I’m betting that he will authorize up to 30,000 additional troops contingent upon passage of the 5% war surtax on the rich being touted by David Obey and Carl Levin.

Ignoring how we got here – how is this approach different than Bush’s approach in Iraq – for which he has been quite criticized. Obviously he hasn’t spoken yet but it sounds like “let’s get the job done – train the locals – turn everything over to them – try to leave”
