It was quite gracious of Kevin to allow the BBC and the Wall Street Journal to join in on this press conference.
    :}

  2. Susan Russell says:

    Interesting.
Still waiting for Isaac Orama’s press conference though, arent’ we? Or did I miss a meeting?

  3. KAR says:

I don’t know if you missed the meeting or not, but AnglicanTV, the BBC and WSJ were in Mbarara Uganda (which is located here) and Uyo, Nigeria is quite a bit aways (it’s located here).

We do need to work on our geography in the US, huh?

  4. Sherri says:

Um, Susan, Orama has exactly what to do with Orombi?

  5. DonGander says:

I am very positively impressed – again!

    God bless him!

  6. Susan Russell says:

Thanks for the geographic help but we have maps here in Southern California (although I understand there are map shortages in some parts of the country! 🙂

Honestly, it was just that seeing the press conference announcement reminded me we haven’t heard any more from Nigeria about the forthcoming retraction of last week’s UPI quotes attributed to Bishop Orama. Wondering if I’ve missed something.

  7. Sherri says:

One African automatically makes you think of another?

  8. The Lakeland Two says:

Susan: Perhaps they are still waiting on the reporter to write the retraction. I would, and I think that’s pretty standard in the mainstream media.

  9. Eclipse says:

    Susan :

What in the world does a Nigeria bishop have to do with an Ugandan one?

Interesting to me that here you can listen to this Godly man speak – speak with a goodness and clarity so totally missing in TEC and all you can think about is some erroneous report from UPI.

I confess, I was just thanking God that such godly men exist – like B. Orombi – I am SO BLESSED to call him MY Archbishop! Woo Hoo!

  10. Br_er Rabbit says:

Eclipse, you have assumed that Susan actually listened to the press conference. That has not yet been established.

The money quote from Henry Luke: “If you want fire, we have it,” referring to what Africans can do for America.

  11. John A. says:

Orombi states the central issue very succinctly: “They don’t believe in the centrality of Christ for the salvation of mankind”. Of course this does not apply to every member of TEC but this is the prevalent view among the leadership of TEC.

  12. DonGander says:

    Eclipse:

I hope that a bit of envy in this case is no sin.

    Congratulations!

I tried to post a comment to AnglicanTV at the interview post, but to no avail. So, here….
    [blockquote]”Kevin,
I see you finally got to ask your “What about the tears?” question!
But seriously, even though the BBC and WSJ journalists had questions which were more polished and intentional, I thought your questions gave +Orombi more room to share his insights and the firmness of his Anglican priorities, i.e. Bible.
Good work. Glad to have you back.”[/blockquote]

They’re freaking out over on Thinning Anglicans about this because Orombi with his disarming smile and winsome tone, along with his charismatic evangelicalism, presents a gentler, more ‘British’ style than Akinola, but without differing at all on The Issue (TM).
Untold numbers of Anglicans in the west would *love* to have a bishop like this, who preaches for conversion and prays for healing and deliverance.
So Orombi will become the next hate figure for the lgbtqqers.

    DonGander :

Well, as of all things of God, I cannot take any personal claim for that grace of God in my life. However, I am so thankful men like Bishop Orombi took us under their wing.

To the media it’s just about ‘an issue’ for us it was a matter of life or death. To Susan Russell and the like my Archbishop is just ‘the enemy’ – to us his willingness to take a small obscure congregation under his wing and protection gave us the strength and the willingness to struggle on and continue in the Faith.

I personally can attest to the love and kindness I have been given by this man when all who SHOULD have stood for us, all those who SHOULD have come our aid just ignored our pleas for help.

If you had my former bishop you would understand the overwhelming sense of gratefulness when this man speaks – I just am so thankful words fail to convey it.
