Did you Know that April is National Poetry Month?

This is something very much worth noticing, I believe.

    I did not. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. When I was younger I had an almost morbid affection for Poe’s works. I can still remember the look on a teacher’s face in High School when during a discussion on poetry I began to recite the The Raven from memory.

    I did not know the month of April
    Is the month to celebrate poetry.

    Happily I recall Thor of BC
    Writing his rhymes upon a tree.

    So many ditties bring us joy,
    as fa-la-la and do-re-mi.

    So, in this month I’ll read more verse,
    Which, I’m sure, will bring more joy to me.

    It was just brought to my attention this evening at a choral rehearsal. We are performing Randall Thompson’s “Frostiana”. Good Robert Frost poetry! First performance, April 30th, so we come in under the wire!
