These folks obviously live in another world. In their eagerness to prop up an economy that has lost over 8 million jobs, most of which will not be replaced, the author obviously has no grasp of the reality of life for the average citizen. Not that he cares, particularly. Just a bit more of the foolishness we have come to expect from the MSM. No wonder the tea party movement is growing- they dont see the same America as these folks. You can make statistics say anything you want, but real life is lived in another sphere.

Newsweek is seriously downplaying (practically ignoring) the devastating unemployment rates and the crippling levels of debt we are buried under. There is just no way we can justify this kind of confidence. Wall Street is setting itself up for another massive correction. Stocks are hugely overpriced right now.

I suspect that in future years people may look back at this Newsweek cover as their version of the Chicago Tribune’s famous headline… DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN

    Anyone remember President Dewey?

It just amazes me how increasingly out of touch with reality the mainstream media is. Everyone in the liberal intelligentsia must be living in this bubble, where they have no clue what is going on around them.

At least in my neck of the woods, people are extremely scared, upset and angry. The economy continues to plummet, and now all we hear from our legislature is the fact we are going to get hit with massive tax increases from all directions, starting with a 2,100% increase in fuel taxes, a 600% increase in unemployment taxes (down from the originally threatened 1,000% increase), and a list of new taxes that goes on forever, including, at one point, a proposal to tax churches for their donations in the plate on Sundays and other income. Yesterday, for example, it was annouced that the State’s employee health plan is facing bankruptcy within the next several months unless there is a substantial increase in premiums (another 25% increase on top of 24% increase earlier this year) or cuts in health benefits–or the additional cost gets dumped again in terms of yet more taxes on the fewer and fewer people who are bearing more and more of the tax burden.

Robert Reich’s recent blog columns have been a much more accurate picture of what has been going on recently; and I am presently surprised to see he’s willing to say it like it is despite being associated with the people, starting back in the Clinton administration, who in my opinion created our present economic nightmare.

I see that “Hate on the Right” is their other big story.
I think they just want to be the rag that always sits in the front of the rack in the Oval Office toilet. Something to aspire to when there’s nothing else in your future.
