Prayer Guide Lists Challenges in Global South

Persecution, political instability, secularism and violence are some of the challenges facing provinces in the Global South, according to a prayer guide prepared for the fourth Global South Encounter.

The Church of Uganda compiled the prayer guide for participants in the international gathering, scheduled for April 19-23 at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Singapore.

Each of the 21 provinces lists items under the categories of “give thanks,” “commit to” or “pray for.” Even some of the “give thanks” items speak to struggles faced within the provinces.

Bishop Lawrence left for the meeting today–yours prayers are encouraged. Also, please read it all.

    Elves,

Please correct a signficant typo in this summary of the TLC article. The date of the upcoming South-to-South Encounter is APRIL 19th to 23rd, (not in May). The TLC article had it right, and I’m happy to hear, as Kendall noted, that Bp. Lawrence was invited and is on his way there for this big event.

I’m delighted to see this up-to-date list of prayer needs for the various global south provinces. Very helpful and practical. And since it is a gift to the rest of us from the Anglican Church of Uganda, I’d be willing to bet that this thing has the fingerprints of my friend Alison Barfoot+ all over it. It’s just the kind of useful thing she’d do. Anyway, I’m glad she’s on the staff of ++Henry Orombi in Kampala.
