Just so you know, we’re on the good side with y’all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas. ”

“As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect.” —Natalie Maines

    Kendall,

I’m almost certain you meant to honor America’s heroes with this song. We in the military thank you.

Please be advised, however, that most of the military folks I know across the services have nothing but utter antipathy for the Dixie Chicks – not just for their disrespect towards our Commander-in-Chief during a time of war, but for their refusal to join with other artists in traveling to Iraq and Afghanistan to lift morale of our fighting women and men.

Not trying to start an unnecessary debate on this day, but wanted you and the others to know where most of us fall towards this particular artist today.

Thank you Fr. Jim. I did not trust myself to give voice to my feelings and so limited myself to quotations. You said what I could not frame properly, so I thank you again.

Will the next one be Jane Fonda singing God Bless America? Statmann

I have run into this problem before with Peter Paul and Mary in terms of the vessel and that which is delivered. What I like is the song and that as where the focus was meant to be.
