So. What happens with the prize money? Will it be spent to reduce world hunger? Hungy people want to know.

Sigh! – I wish we didn’t have to see the words Christian and lobbying used together so much.

I wish there weren’t so much lobbying, but if the bad guys lobby, the good guys need to lobby too.

I’ve been a member of BFW since its first meeting, in NYC in the 1970s. The idea is that the organization leverages member contributions–sending x amount of money to poor folks gives them x amount of money; using x amount to get the government to fund domestic anti-poverty programs and foreign aid gets many times x amount of money to poor folks. BFW has been VERY effective in its lobbying efforts so, when I contribute to BFW I get a bigger bang for my buck than I could by contributing directly to a conventional charity–though of course I contribute to conventional charities too.
