Guardian–Ugandan archbishop urges African clergy to re-evangelise Anglican church

The archbishop of Uganda yesterday urged hundreds of African bishops to shake off their fears, shame and superficial dependency and re-evangelise the “ailing” churches of the west.

In a rallying cry to the biggest constituency of the Anglican Communion, the Most Rev Henry Orombi said it was time for Africans to “rise up and bring fresh life in the ailing global Anglicanism”.

His call came on the same day that US Episcopalians published a guide on liturgical and ceremonial resources for clergy and same-sex couples.

Read it all.

“According to the Daily Nation in Kenya, African church leaders will use the meeting to reiterate their concerns about homosexuality and criticise the archbishop for failing to punish communities that welcome gays and lesbians into the pews and priesthood.”
All are welcome to the pews. Riazat’s attempt at alliteration bears false witness.

That is true. The Grauniad author seems to have made that up, if this is the article referred to:

http://www.nation.co.ke/News/africa/African bishops say Anglicans in West strayed from God/-/1066/995948/-/6q5wyx/-/

But I suspect the author simply does not know enough about the subject she was writing about to have understood what she was saying.

I do like the picture of Anglican primates, though.

In the CA wine country we note an interesting historical parallel. Europeans established CA’s vineyards. But when disease devastated Europe’s vineyards in the 1800’s, CA vines were used to re=plant.

To illustrate how misleading Riazat is being, here is a quote from a New Vision article. I only located this after intensive journalistic research… posted on T19 immediately below this post:

“The Rev. Bernard Ntahoturi of Burundi said homosexuality should not be left to the church alone to fight because it is “an issue of humanity”.

However, he called on the church to engage those who practice homosexuality rather than running away from them.

So once again the MSM gives in to the temptation of advocacy – sad.
