    Too ironic.

“Romero’s death is a sort of image in miniature of what Christians want to say about the death of Jesus.”

As an Anglican, I am troubled by this public statement by an Anglican leader. I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Matt 16:16. And I believe this is a central tenant of the faith.

To me, to imply that Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr. or Oscar Romero are mini-Christs is to dilute and to cheapen the faith. I say this even though I have read a lot about Gandhi and have a lot of respect for him (I have not studied King or Romero so closely).

#2: don’t read the new biography then – it will disturb you. Gandhi was no saint.
