(BBC) Syria 'sends more troops to Turkey and Lebanon borders'

Syria’s military has moved into a village near the border with Turkey and a town near the boundary with Lebanon, activists say.

Hundreds of Syrians, some with gunshot wounds, have fled into Lebanon, according to reports.

At least four civilians were reportedly killed by security forces during house-to-house raids and at funerals held for those killed in Friday’s rallies.

It’s a good thing for Assad that his name starts with “A” and not “G” and that Syria starts with “S” and not “L.” Otherwise the leaders of the western powers would feel like they just have to do something! But letters, I guess, make all the difference.

    1. BlueOntario:[blockquote] Otherwise the leaders of the western powers would feel like they just have to do something! [/blockquote] The ‘western powers’ attacking Libya pretty much have their hands full already. They couldn’t engage Syria even if they wanted to – and frankly they don’t want to. Where would they find aircraft? Where would they find pilots? Where would they find munitions? Where would they find logistics? Where would they stage their aircraft? Where would they find the political will? Where would they find good champagne? Now, the Turks could do something if they had a mind. But why would they want to create instability on their southern border? They don’t want a revolutionary Gov’t in Syria.

The Syrian gov’t can pretty do what it wants. No one is going to intervene. Sure, there might be some pontifical flatulence emitted by the August and Supreme United Nations Security Council, Keeper of the Sacred Writ, and Deliverer of Imperious Resolutions. Not much else.
