If Obama is indeed re-elected it will be the first time in two centuries that three consecutive Presidents have served two terms each. Clinton-Bush-Obama compare quite badly to Jefferson-Madison-Monroe.

  2. Ad Orientem says:

The fat lady has sung. Only a serious medical crisis or scandal could stop Romney from being nominated. As for Jefferson Madison and Monroe… The latter two were OK. I am not however a fan of Mr. Jefferson’s administration. He was a great intellect. But as President his only significant accomplishment was the Louisiana Purchase. Beyond which his policies, especially in foreign affairs make Jimmy Carter look like a hawk.

  3. Katherine says:

I don’t understand how a President whose approval ratings are consistently in the lower forties can be such a strong bet for re-election.

  4. aldenjr says:

No 2. I guess if you consider all Mr. Jefferson accomplished before being President, one might conclude there was nothing more needed for his contribution to this great country, except, perhaps establishing one of the nation’s leading institution for higher learning.

  5. BlueOntario says:

    Jefferson founded Virginia Tech?

Obama is such a strong contender for re-election because of ignorance, willful or otherwise. My wife is taking some classes at a local college and hears what most of the young (traditional college age) students say, still thinking it isn’t the great O’s fault, Bush caused all the problems. When asked what Obama has accomplished, they point out that Congress has kept him from doing anything. They don’t see how he and his racist attorney general are dividing the people of this country and doing more damage to race relations than anyone since the KKK. They don’t see why refusing to build an oil pipeline or refusing to allow drilling in more areas of the country could possibly cause gas prices to go up. They do not see a man ready to give our enemies the secrets of our missle defenses to those who would harm us. They think the Russians are our buddies and that they would never give the Iranians or North Koreans our military secrets. These students don’t see that there has not been a budget passed since the great O took office, no matter what the laws require, the Democrats seem to think they are above such petty concerns. They do not see Obamacare and the contraceptive mandate as any infringement on religious freedom, we can still go to church where we want can’t we?With our college students not seeing anything wrong with the way the great O is doing things, why wouldn’t he be a strong contender for reelection?

  7. Capt. Father Warren says:

#3, #6, let us not forget the media who carries water for POTUS to the point of hiding the real agenda and misery. Let us not forget that an awful economy is precisely what this POTUS wants; the more people dependent on government, the more people who will be afraid to vote out POTUS because they fear someone else might cut their government supplied benefits. For these, living in fear beats living free.

And, coming to a place near you soon: spring OWS/union riots and strikes. Chaos, lots of chaos, that people will eventually beg POTUS to stop. And he will, and in that “parting of the waters” he will be swept back into office…….and no more elections to worry about.

For those who care, think about being part of The Faithful Remnant.

  8. Hakkatan says:

I fear that Obama will be re-elected because Romney will be too moderate for conservatives and too conservative for moderates – and it may turn out that he is too inconsistent and wavering for anyone. As one pundit put it, “Obama cannot win the election, but the Republicans can lose it.” I hope that some of Obama’s failings become too obvious and horrifying to be ignored.

#5 – Jefferson did not found Hokie High! He watched the construction of his “academical village” by telescope from Monticello just east of Charlottesville.
