France-England 1-1 at Halftime

How did James Milner not score? The overall result is fair to this point it seems to me.

Update–That ended up being the final game score.

I would love to say that the English are the best but having watched Spain v Italy I tremble at the thought of our boys meeting either of them, but especially Spain who seem to have lightning-quick responses and almost ESP awareness of where other players are on the field. Perhaps Spain should hand over its economy to its football players. And BTW for an amazing piece of defending, in the same Spain-Italy match, there was an occasion with the Italy goal wide open, no defenders in sight, and Fernando Torres bearing down on the goal. The Italian goalie in a high-risk calculation surged out of the box and tackled Torres. If he got it wrong, the goal was an open door behind him. But in a desperate, scrappy, stumbling exchange he managed to wrest the ball away from Torres. Amazing playing.

It is Sweden next – and England have only beaten Sweden once in their last thirteen matches. However, that was their most recent match. But then again, England have not beaten Sweden in two successive encounters since 1965 & 1968. Can you have too many statistics?
