Scotland has announced it will allow same-sex weddings as early as 2015, becoming the first country in the United Kingdom to do so.
“We are committed to a Scotland that is fair and equal, and that is why we intend to proceed with plans to allow same sex marriage and religious ceremonies for civil partnerships,” said Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who made the announcement on Wednesday (July 25).
The Church of Scotland and the Roman Catholic Church were against the move, but gay-friendly Christian groups said they were “relieved” by the announcement.
I wonder if this will imply anything in respect of England recognizing gay marriages?
Quite what the Conservative Party is actually conserving is a mystery to me.
Loosely requoted, there is an observation about Scotland that states that
“the better part of Scotland’s gene pool was either killed of in WW1 and WW2 or has emigrated out of Scotland over the past 350 years.”
My Scottish ancestors would be more than ill-at-ease with many modern Scots in Scotland.
So I guess if they are all for ‘fairness an equality’ that they approve of group marriages, too? Wouldn’t be fair not to… And in favor of allowing Muslim men multiple wives? Wouldn’t be fair not to… Or in favor of people in committed relationships to have extra marital affairs? Wouldn’t be fair not to….
Sigh….
