  1. John A. says:

    The sermon and the service could be summed up as follows: “Go forth into the world in His name, proclaiming the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!”

    The first processional hymn was “I Bind Unto Myself Today”.

    The readings were:
    Numbers 27:15-20,22-23
    2 Cor 4:1-10
    Matthew 28:18-20

    Amongst the various oaths and blessings the following words stood out: “Take this staff. Be a shepherd and not a wolf to the flock of Christ, feed them and do not devour them.”

    The recessional hymn was “The Church’s One Foundation”. Verse 3 reads:

    [blockquote] Though with a scornful wonder men see her sore oppressed,
    by schisms rent asunder, by heresies distressed;
    yet saints their watch are keeping, their cry goes up, “How long?”
    and soon the night of weeping shall be the morn of song.[/blockquote]

    It has been a good day.

    God has blessed us more than we know.

  3. Bill Cool says:

    With numerous bishops and archbishops present, we held a wonderful consecration service for the four new suffragan bishops in the USA: Roger Ames, David Anderson, Amos Fagbamiye, and Nathan Kanu. The service was an amazing combination of lively American Anglican and Nigerian Anglican traditions. The four new bishops will continue to lead their current congregations and will be committed to church planting – a common theme for Nigerian bishops.

    +Lyons and +Duncan had a very busy few days – they both attended the service and joined in the laying on of hands upon each of the new bishops by the current bishops present, and this after their presence at the historic move of the Diocese of San Joaquin to the Province of the Southern Cone.

    In other news: Also consecrated as a Bishop in the Church Catholic on Sunday was Dr. Robert Henry, joining the Charismatic stream converging into the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches (theCEEC). There were some 60 ministers in the procession (I was the Bishop’s Chaplain) and 700 or so in attendance.

    The Recessional was the spiritual, “Amen”.
