Presiding Bishop Katherine Jeffert Schori's Statement on the Lambeth 2008 Invitations

From ENS:

Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori sent a short e-mail message to the House of Bishops urging “a calm approach to today’s announcement regarding 2008 Lambeth Conference invitations, a subject on which I plan to make no formal statement at this time. It is possible that aspects of this matter may change in the next 14 months, and the House of Bishops’ September meeting offers us a forum for further discussion.”

Wise of Kathy, and probably the best thing she could do. Kudos to her for taking the high road at this critical juncture.

if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. (missing a “t” in the title btw)

    Fixed. Thanks. Elf Lady

I too think it’s a good response, which has to mean: better than everybody on this blog! Interesting, however, how few have recognised this.

Finally Mrs. Shori has said something I agree with. You can bet the house on the fact that things will indeed change over the next 14 months. Either Lambeth will be called off due to a lack of bishops agreeing to attend or most of TEC’s bishops have their invitations withdrawn.

    Martyn Minns says:

Depending on the response of The Episcopal Church to the Primates’ communiqué by September 30, the situation may become even more complex. One thing is clear, a great deal can and will happen before next July.

Hmmmm…..I wonder if this is the closest agreement between Minns and Schori that we will see in our lifetime?

Now, I see why Minns thinks that things might change in his favor, but I am not sure how KJS thinks things will change in TEC’s favor? Any thoughts?
