Cranmer: BBC and CofE unite in worship of President Obama

His Grace is all for praying for those in authority – in whatever country, under whatever form of government, of whatever faith. But the Church of England in conjunction with the BBC have gone a little far with the Obamafest broadcast this morning on Radio 4.

Divine Worship came from St Martin-in-the-Fields, and the theme was ‘Learning to Dream Again’, in celebration of President Obama’s second inauguration.

    The quoted service compares Obama to Abraham Lincoln. Such a comparison in fact is very negative to Obama; he’s not in Lincoln’s class at all, either intellectually or in terms of achievement. Read Lincoln’s second inaugural address and consider his intentions to heal the nation’s wounds with malice towards none after the war’s end. Obama is the most deliberately divisive President in my memory.

    It’s embarrassing to watch the media cheerleaders wet their pants over this inaugural. I’d like to see some comparative commentary from various inaugural. I’m betting that even the Clinton inaugurals didn’t get this much dewy eyed sweetness.
