A great video tribute to one of the wonderful institutions in South Carolina.

Every once in a while we get a Golden Eagle down from the mountains into downtown Greenville, South Carolina. They are big enough to grab a small dog, so you have to be on the lookout, but they are magnificently beautiful birds. The last one we had near my back yard had a wing span of at least 8 feet!

That Golden Eagle would be rather unusual in South Carolina, wouldn’t it? I just checked a range map to confirm my idea that it’s year-round in the western US, but not much seen in the Southeast. We have bald eagles around the lake just a mile from my house (Raleigh-Durham).
