I’m going to pay down the loan that I took out to pay my taxes.

    Don

    LOL, Don.

Mine is going into our bank account, and will be used in regular shopping, probably food and gas.

I’ll tell you where my wife and I are sending our rebate: Half to our Diocesan Defense Fund, and the rest to our church Building Fund.

My family’s rebate is going to health insurance, which is $1,139 a month because we have to keep the plan that we have because no one else will take us with our pre-existing conditions.

selah: Ours will go to our health insurance, too, roughly $720 to a large HMO — they already receive my spouse’s MediCare payment. (This is coverage for only TWO people). This whole health system thing in the US is absurd, and needs to be reformed. The big profits for providers and insurance companies are plain obscene. That’s why the presidential and congressional elections are so crucial this year. American families are being destroyed by health insurance companies which are making enormous profits from denying coverage. Good luck to you and yours.

AT my new job, the county will pay my insurance. it comes to a benefit worth $399.

To insure my spouse, the cost would be $740 (actual cost to me: 740 – 399). Even more for me to insure spouse + 1. Full family coverage isn’t even an option as I would be spending more than my paycheck!
